Cemeteries are a place to remember and honor those who have passed.  Each year we tell their stories in a cemetery tour – sharing the notable, the notorious and the common, every day stories of our Conifer area pioneers.

Tales Behind the Tombstones 2023

This article, published in 1936, provides a glimpse into what Highway 285 was like in the early 1900s and details various homes and landmarks in the area.  Noah LeGault was the son of Joseph and Delphine LeGault who settled in Pleasant Park in 1871.

In honor of National Women’s Physician Day in 2024, this article provides profiles on 8 historic female physicians in our area, including Dr. Rachel Staunton who ran a sanitarium for tuberculosis patients on her ranch (now Staunton State Park) and Dr. Josepha Williams Douglas of Evergreen who founded a medical and surgical center and nursing school – Marquette-Williams Sanitarium.
